Underground structures X12127
Course content: Classification of underground structures and their usable functions in the range of communication, transport and special constructions. Types of excavations. Characteristic of selected structures among them city subway systems and railroad and highway tunnels. General building requirements for tunnels.Original stress state in the ground and its disturbances after performing excavation. The notion of the ground arching. Static interaction of the casing and the surrounding ground under loadings. Theoretical concepts of assigning loadings on floor, walls and underlay of casing. The pressure of the ground on casing of the shaft. Methods of design rigid and flexible casing. Stability of excavation without casing. Tasks and needs of applying casing. Temporarily and solid casing. The basic technologies of constructing of the tunnels: stripping and mining methods, using different type of tunnel shields in dry and watered ground.
