Telecommunication Systems and Networks TZ1A500031
Course content:
Basic terms connected with telecommunication systems, networks and services. Classification of networks and their basic topologies. Examples of network resources. The Open Systems Interconnection Reference Model (OSI). Typical network devices. Technologies and architectures of wired and wireless Local Area Networks. Data transmission over telephone networks (PSTN, GSM, UMTS). Basic and auxiliary communication protocols. Device addressing in telecommunication and computer networks. Static and dynamic IP routing. Interconnecting LAN and WAN networks. Access and backbone networks. General structure of the Internet network. Domain Name System (DNS). Telecommunication multiplexing systems. Selected technologies and architectures of WAN and MAN networks. Foundations of management of networks and services.
Learning outcomes: Obtaining knowledge of contemporary technologies and protocols used in digital telecommunication and computer systems and networks.
