Digital processing of images and sounds TS2B302274

Course content: Algorithms of image processing and sound processing will be presented. Image algorithms concern point operations on images and filtering algorithms. Filtering algorithms are used for noncorrelated noise reduction performed as spatial filtering, correlated noise reduction performed as notch filtering and reduction of image distortions performed as Wiener filtering. Compression algorithms for video signals (MPEG family and H/264/AVC) will be also considered. Algorithms for sound processing are focused on LPC analysis of a speech signal,on scalar quantisation and vector quantisation of a speech signal.

Learning outcomes: students will be familiar with advanced algorithms of image and speech processing.
