Antennas and Wave Propagation TS2B102203
Course content:
Classification and properties of antennas. Basics of radiation theory. Parameters of antennas. Electromagnetic field radiated of Hertz dipole. Symmetric thin-wire antenna. Antennas over a ground plane. Short dipole. Antenna feeding, impedance matching. Antenna arrays. Wire reflectors and directors, Yagi-Uda antennas. Travelling-wave antennas, frequency-independent and log-periodic antennas. Aperture antennas. Nonuniform feeded arrays and aperture antennas. Horn, parabolic-reflector, and lens antennas. Microstrip antennas. Radiating slots. Antennas in consumer appliances.
Propagation of electromagnetic waves in the Earth’s atmosphere. Wave propagation in different frequency bands.
Learning outcomes:
Students get knowledge concerning transmission of electromagnetic waves in free space. They are able to make basic measurements of antenna parameters and to make computer-aided analysis of simple antennas (using NEC-2).
