Wireless Networks TS1A511251
Course content:
Classification of the wireless networks: WWAN, WLAN, WPAN, WMAN. Wireless Internet Protocol. Physical layer. Radiowave propagation. Basic types of antennas for wireless networks. Multipath propagation and a transmission channel model: deterministic and random models. Noise and pulse interferences, ISI, a radio receiver structure, equalizers and RAKE receivers. Coding and modulation in wireless networks. Space-time block and trellis coding. Architecture of the GSM, GPRS, EDGE and UMTS. The spread-spectrum technology. The main standards for wireless networks: IEEE 802.11x, 802.15, 802.16, 802.20. The OFDM and MIMO technologies. Hybrid wireless systems. Future trends in wireless communications.
