Telecommunication Switching Systems 1 TS1A510206
Course content: Message, circuit and packet switching; the telephone network hierarchy and the numbering schemes used by a telephone administration; analogue (PSTN) and digital (ISDN) subscriber signalling; channel associated (R2) and common channel (S7) signalling; a hardware architecture of a digital telephone exchange: switching fabrics (space, time and two-dimensional switching), analogue subscriber modules (BORSCHT), digital trunk modules, service circuit modules and control elements; technology, structure and functional description of a software architecture; basic call processing; operation and maintenance facilities of digital switching systems; traffic analysis in loss systems and delay systems; selected architectures of digital exchanges (S12, EWSD, 5ESS, DGT).
Learning outcomes: Obtaining knowledge of signalling in telecommunication networks and architecture, maintenance and operation of digital switching system.
