Course content:
Sources of electromagnetic disturbances. Measurements of disturbances and their influence on equipment and systems. Electrostatic discharge. Couplings between sources of disturbances and divices or systyems. Crosstalk between different arrangements of lines. protection agaist disturbances in electric power systems and in signal lines. Surge protective devices in power and signal systems. Coordination between surge protective devices. Filtering and protection against elektrostatic discharge. Earthing techniques. General guideline for bounding. The effect of apertures. Shielding effectiveness. Examples of complex protection against electric disturbances.
Learning outcomes:
The principal objective of lecture is to cover the fundaments of electromagnetic disturbences in electric power systems and in signal lines, electromagnetic coupling between wires, investigation of equipment immunity, measurement methods of disturbances, surge protective devices.
