Course content:Basic notions in toxicology and poisons clasification.The factors that influence toxicity of compounds.The absorbtion ways of toxic chemicals.Mechanisms of cumulation, biotransformation and expulsion of poisons. Bioacumulation and biomagnification of toxins.Toxicity of chosen chemicals. Basic rules of microbiotests. Toxicity of selected poisons from plants and animals.
Impact of salt toxicity on plants and trees. Effect of same toxic chemicals on plant germination and structure. Biotests on plants. Acute tests. The research of harmful effects of chemical substances used in households. Influence of some toxic compounds on water plants and on photosyntesis and respiration proces. Influence of haevy metals on microorganisms. Analytycal method to recognize water and soil toxicity with Microtox.
Learning outcomes:Student identifies and classifies toxic substances, conducts experiments, draws conclusions and verifies them on the basis of the sources available.
