Course content:
The hydrological cycle, water balance of the Earth. Water resources. Catchment. Rivers, surface water networks. Lakes. Wetlands. Oceans. River gauging, river flow. Runoff, river regimes, drought and flood. Flood routing. Water balance. Water management. Water demand of economy. Groundwater. Chemistry of water. Hazards, degradation and protection of water resources. Classification (standards) of water.

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes: Student describes and interprets both hydrological and hydrogeological phenomena and processes in connection with environmental conditions, determine basic hydrological parameters, identify water resource hazards. He knows basics of water resource protection and basic measurement techniques.
Assessment criteria
Teaching methods: lecture, project
Assessment: exam (lecture) - at least 60% correct answers of the test and 2/3 correctly defined terms, projects mark at least 3,0 (project)
