Course content:
Hierarchy of biological organization. Definition of species. Correlation between structure and function of living organisms. Main living processes taking part on a giving level of biological hierarchy of organization. Organization of genomes of prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. Bases of the classical, population and molecular genetics. Evolutional processses leadind to origin and extention of species. Bases of plant and animal physiology. Systematics and the characterization of main groups of organisms. Plant and animals geography. Influence of main abiotic factors such as temperature, water and nutrient availability on the distribution of plants. The use of contemporary achievements of biology in the modern environment protection
Learning outcomes:
Understanding of processes of life, the knowledge of the systematics of the living world, understanding the correlation between organisms to establish the biological equilibrium in the environment.
