Course content:
Traditional building engineering
Buildings. Elements of buildings and building structures. Loads. Spatial rigidity of buildings.Dilatations.
Technical requirements for buildings according to Polish legal regulations.
Excavations. Foundations. Walls. Chimney walls. Masonry walls – rules of construction from small-dimension elements. Ceilings –criteria of element selection.
Stairs. Roofs. Balconies and terraces. Roofings. Windows and doors. Insulations of building partitions. Finishing elements. Timber structures in general building engineering.
Design exercises –D
Design of dwelling house in traditional technology.
The range of project: technical description, drawings, loads for satatical calculations of selected structural elements .
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge referring to building structures and abilities to apply technical regulations and criteria of selection structural elements and insulations in buildings constructed traditionally.

Aims and objectives:
Presentation of basic knowledge referring to construction art, forming of building structures and technical requirements for designing buildings which are constructed traditionally
Assessment criteria
Assessment:
Lecture: written and oral exam.
Design exercises: written test, execution of design exercise on schedule.
The final assessment is an average from partial assessments.
