Theoretical Mechanics NO2062.
Course content:Statics. General Principles. Vector fundamentals. Cartesian components.. Force system resultants. Moment of a force. Resultant moment of a force system. Static equilibrium. Types of forces. Reactive forces and moments due to the connectors and supports. Structural analysis: planar trusses, beams and frames.
Kinematics of particle. Kinematics of rigid bodies in one plane: instantaneous centre of rotation. Kinematics of rigid bodies in three dimensions: translation motion, rotation about a fixed axis, rotation about a fixed point, general motion.Dynamic of a single particle. Newtonian mechanics, conservation laws, time-dependent forces, oscillations (harmonic, forced and damped). Dynamics of systems of point particles. Center of mass (definition and general properties). Dynamics of rigid body.
Learning outcomes: Students are able to solve ststic, kinemetic and dynamic problems in the analyses of building structures.
