Course content:
Matter's structure - atom and particles. Periodic table of the elements. Chemical bonding. Stechiometry. Chemistry basic laws. State of aggregations. Solutions, dispersions, colloids. Density and viscosity. Phenomenons of sorption, diffusion and osmosis. Inorganic compounds. Theory if acids and bases. Organic compounds –classification, properties, reactivity. Analytical chemistry. Methods of chemical analysis. Water properties. Types and mechanisms of chemical reactions. Homo- and heterogeneity reactions. Elements of thermodynamics and kinetic. Activation energy, catalysis. Electrochemistry– electrode processes, electrolysis, voltaic cells. Metal’s corrosion. Selected operations in chemical technology. Safety rules in chemical technology.
Learning outcomes: understanding of chemical changes and their role in food and forest's production processes.
