Course content:
Lecture
Digital signal processing methods: hardware and software based. Characteristics of the real control time systems. Hardware platforms: DSP processors, PLD/FPGA systems. Foundamentals of the VHDL programming language.
Laboratories
ISE WebPack and Cool Runner Design Kit. LEDs controlled by push-buttons, Software simulation with ISE WebPack. Combination blocks: 7-segment decoder, sumator, comparator. Sequence blocks: diode line, 7-segment display. Simple states machines: simple microprocessor, RS-232 port controller.
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge about the specific features and architectures of real time control systems and their hardware platforms. Practical skills in the design, implementation, and integration of simple real time control systems.

Lecture-one lecture test.
Laboratories-individual assessment of the excercises completed during the classes and the grading of the final reports from all finished excercises.
