Biomaterials, classification of medical materials. Biomaterials - distribution and general characteristics. Biocompatibility and biofunkcionality issues. Metallic biomaterials for bone implants. Corrosion of implants, the method of passivation. Medical Ceramics. Polymers in medicine. Composite materials. Nanomaterials and nanotechnology in medicine. Materials for tissue anastomosis. Surgical instrumentation. Materials for dentistry. Materials and preparations dressings. Materials for orthopedic. Shoe inserts. Cosmetic prosthesis. Rehabilitation equipment – construction and auxiliary materials. Sterilization and disinfection of medical records. Methods of medical research.

Learning outcomes:
Knowledge of materials and medical products. The ability to select materials for the construction of medical devices and implants. The ability to shape the structure and properties of biomedical materials, methods of attestation and acceptance of biomaterials.
