Fluid Mechanics MBMSO3020
Course content:
Lecture:
physical properties of liquids and gases; elements of fluid kinematics; fluid statics: relative equilibrium of liquid, manometry, hydrostatic forces, buoyency; perfect fluid dynamics: continuity equation, Bernoulli equation, conduit flow, Torricelli theorem, velocity and flow measurements, dynamic forces of fluid flow; viscous flow: Navier-Stokes equations,laminar and turbulent flow, flow in ducts, hydraulic losses; potential flow; introduction to gas dynamics.
Laboratory:manometry; velocity and flow measurements; Prandtl probe; laminar and turbulent flow; hydraulic losses, determination of Coriolis coefficient; determination of pump curves; testing of pumps combined in series and in parallel.

lecture: understanding of general principles, definitions and laws of fluid mechanics
