Course content:

Lecture: definitions and basic concepts: a quantity, a value, a unit of measure, a measurement, measurement methods. The basic theory of measurements. Systematic and random errors in measurements of direct and indirect measurement methods, the measurement uncertainty, the measurement result. The tolerance, the dimensional tolerancing, resolving dimensional chains. Inspection of dimensional accuracy - methods and tools. Principles of operation and metrological characteristics of measuring tools (standards, transducers, sensors). Technical metrology.

Laboratory exercises: measurements of outside, inside and mixed dimensions and surface roughness using universal measuring technics.

Learning outcomes:
student applies methods of errors determination, calculates systematic errors and the uncertainty of measurements, describes the operating principles and characteristics of tools for measurements, uses workshop metrology.
