Experimental methods in mechanics MBM2S12001
Course content:The essence of experimental testing. Strain-gage test methods. Measurements and analysis of measurement uncertainties. The organization of the measuring systems. The experimental methods of the material testing in the simple loading state- tensile, compression, flexural, shear and torsion tests. Testing of materials in the complex stress state. Estimating rheological properties of materials- creep and relaxation. The optical methods of testing in the mechanics – photoelasticity, optical,laser speckle, moire and holographic interferometry. Acoustic emission methods and thermography. Methods of measurement of values of the critical parameters in fracture mechanics. The low-cycle and high cycle fatigue of metals. Ultrasonic and X-ray methods. Non-standards methods of testing.
Learning outcomes: obtain information about experimental methods and present testing technique; preparation to the independent realization of advanced technical tests of materials.
