Course content:
Physical quantities and units. Elements of mathematical analysis and calculus of vectors.
Kinematics of a mass point. Newton's laws of motion. Work, power, energy. The conservation of momentum, angular momentum and energy.
Harmonic, damped and driven oscillator. Wave motion. Acoustics. Doppler effect.
Relativistic mechanics.
Electrostatics. Capacitance. Direct current. Magnetic field due to electrical current. Magnetic properties of material bodies. Electromagnetic induction.
Geometrical optics. Wave optics. Interference, diffraction and polarization of light.
Elements of quantum mechanics and structure of matter. Roentgen rays. Photoelectric effect. Compton's effect. The Rutherford–Bohr model of hydrogen atom. Lasers. Basics of crystallography. Metals and semiconductors.
Learning outcomes:
A student knows and can interprete the principle laws of physics.

Assessment criteria
Lecture:
A multiple choice test.The student chooses the correct ending and puts a cross. Correct answer + 1 point, incorrect answer - 1 point, no answer 0 point. All the points are added algebraically. The test covers the whole lecture material.
Final assessment:
The maximum number of points the student can score 21 points.
Grade 2(fail) - 6 points and below
3.0 (poor) 7 - 10 points
3.5 11 - 13 points
4.0 (good) 14 - 15 points
4.5 16 - 18 points
5.0 (very good) 19 - 21 points
