Lecture – written test
Project – partial verification of the project, project completion,
presentation and discussion
Assessment criteria:
Lecture:
A written answer to 5 topics on Special foundations.
For each answer is awarded from 0 to 1 point.
On Sufficient grade (3.0) – min. 2.5 points
On Sufficient plus grade (3.5) – min. 3.0 points
On Good grade (4.0) – min. 4.0 points
On Good plus grade (4.0) – min. 4.4 points
On Excellent grade (5.0) – min. 4.8 points
Project:
The assessment applies to:
- participation in projects class,
- partial verification,
- the correctness of accepted solutions,
- defence of the projects,
- timely submission of each project.
On Sufficient grade (3.0) Student:
1. correctly select of pile type,
2. correctly determine parameters of the subsoil layers,
3. correctly assumption of pile spacing and length,
4. correctly calculation of wall reinforcement,
5. defence of the accepted solutions.
On Good grade (4.0) Student:
6. meets the requirements of points 1 – 5,
7. good understanding the influence of construction parts on their working
conditions,
8. good understanding the rules of acting earth pressures
on cantilever retaining wall.
On Excellent grade (5.0) Student:
9. meets the requirements of points 1 – 8,
10. can show the optimization of accepted solutions,
11. know current tendency in design of retaining structures
