Course content:
The concept of computer architecture. Princeston and Harvard architecture.
Taxonomy of computer architectures.
Input-output systems. Modes of operation.
Memory hierarchy of computer systems.
Priciples and organisation of cache memory.
Central processor unit. Instruction cycle. Adressing types. RISC and CISC concept.
Low level programming - assembler.
Virtual memory. Pipeline processing. Multitasking, multiprocessors, multithereding.
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge of operating principles of microprocessors and multiprocessors systems.
Knowledge of operating principles input/output devices
Knowledge of memories types and hardware support for operating systems.
Ability to analyze blok diagrams of computer systems.
Ability to assess potential posibilities of computer hardware.
