Basis of Soil Mechanics GS31001
Course content: Elements of basis soil mechanics. Basic geological processes that shaped structure of rock and soils. Clasification of soil. Macroscopics method and grain size distribution. Physical nad mechanical properties of soils. Water montion in soil. Influence of temperature on soil properties. Earthwork. Geotechnical field investigation. Engineering-geological charcteristic of soil type in Poland. Geotechnical conditions of foundation of building object. Stress in soil medium . Bearing capacity and deformability of subsoil. Slope stability. Active and passive earth pressure. Type of foundation.
Learning outcomes: Skills and competence in range of understanding geological processes, evaluation the type of soil, state of soil and their physical, mechanical parameters, determianation stress in subsoil below foundation, conditions of structure foundation, slope stability, active and passive earth pressure

Acquire of knowledge and skills of laboratory test performance in the range of soil mechanics, calcutate and interpret results of laboratory tests , acquire of competence in the range of calculation of fhysical and mechanical properties of soil and stress in subsoil.
Lecture
Acquire skills and competence in range of understanding geological processes, evaluation the type of soil, state of soil and their physical, mechanical parameters, determination stress in subsoil below foundation, conditions of structure foundation, slope stability, active and passive earth pressure.

Specjalist laboratory
- presence in class, preparation for laboratory tests, correct performance of laboratory tests and correct calculation of results and execution of reports - 40%
- one correct done test - 45%,
- solving four problems of soil mechanics basis - 15%.
