History of Art 4 GRP7051
The lecture aims to discuss the most important trends and phenomena in art after 1945, both within Europe and in the USA and other countries, including Japan. In addition, the lecture will present the activities of artists in the ‘Eastern Bloc’ countries and the former USSR.
The course will address the following issues in art: neoabstractionism, action painting and its varieties, the new avant-gardes of the 1960s. (op-art, kinetic art), pop-art in America and Europe, posters and advertising graphics as a form of artistic expression in the 20th century, as well as happening and performance, body art, land art, and multimedia art and art in public space.
The lecture will present the most important museums and collections of modern art and profiles of collectors and donors of art after 1945.

Learning outcomes
The student knows the most important trends in art in the 20th century (G1_W05).
The student knows the techniques used in 20th century art (G1_W09).
The student will understand the design process in the 20th century and its influenceon visual form (G1_W13).
The student notices mutual relations between currents in art in different countries (G1_W08).
Assessment criteria
Lecture - written examination.
Exercises - paper and presentation on a selected topic.
