Economics of City and Regions GN3120
Form of course: lectures and exercises.
Content: the city as a spatial unit - the determinants of urbanity, factors of the formation of cities, types and functions of cities, towns as the economic subject; the social effects of urbanization, management of urban space, the region as a territorial unit; regional competitiveness; modern conditions of development of the regions.

Learning outcomes
The student describes the city functions and the determinants of urbanity, explains the economic foundations of the city and region management, identifies the factors and barriers to the development of cities and regions, assesses the impact of the development of cities and regions, and suggest possible ways to reduce the negative and strengthen positive effects of the development, gathers information from various sources to develop the characteristics of selected issues in practice (case study), working in a team performing its specific roles, presents its assessment of the presented issues and propose alternative solutions.
Assessment criteria
Lecture - written exam, exercise - two written tests and the preparation and presentation of the characteristics of the selected issue (problem) with practical life (case study).
