Course content: Lectures: Introduction. Knowledge of: aminoacids, proteins, synthesis ans analysis of proteins, enzymes, nucleic acids, genes, chromosomes. Mutagenesis. Viruses: types, structure. Macromolecules. Metabolism of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates. Fermentation. Genetic engineering. Influence of microorganisms on air, water and soil. DNA and somatic cloning.
Laboratory: I: aminoacids, peptides, proteins. Biochemistry of enzymes. Spectrophotometry. II: nucleic acids - analysis of DNA, RNA; PCR. Transfection.
Learning outcomes:
1. Has knowledge of basic sciences (chemistry, biology) to analysis and description physical, chemical and biochemical phenomenons.
2.Know how to obtain and integrate the results from literature, data-bases and some other sources; interpretates the data, to draw a conclusions and opinions
3. Know how to perform the task, interpret the results, documents laboratory results; obey safeness and hygiene in work.
