The fundamentals of television ET09048
Course content:
Fundamental principles of light and vision. Picture contrast and tonal gradation, luminance, hue and saturation. Elementary TV transmission signals. Basic B&W and color TV cameras. TV camera pickups features: light transfer characteristics, sensitivity, dark current, lag characteristics, resolving power; gamma correction. Monochromes and color image display devices: picture tubes, vacuum fluorescent displays (VFD), PDP, ELD and LCD panels, LCD and DLP projectors.
Learning outcomes:
Construction and principles of operation of different monochrome and color image sensors and video displays knowledge.
Characteristics of transmission and video signals of various TV systems in frequency- and time-domain knowledge.
