Course content: Fundamentals of digital systems. Serial interfaces for local communication. IIC bus. CAN bus specification and description of lower and upper layers of architectural model, microcontrollers and programmable logic applications. RS-232C specification and implementation in 8051 and AVR microcontrollers. SPI interface. Wireless communication using RF (specialized hybrid modules) and IR. IRDA interface. Peripheral devices of digital systems: matrix keyboard, PC-AT keyboard, mouse, touch sensitive display, HDD, SD cards. Interfacing betwean microprocessor applications and PC computer. USB bus specification, applications based on microcontrollers and dedicated devices. USB virtual COM Ports. Pulse width modulation realized with embedded hardware blocks implemented in different single chip microcontrollers.
Learning outcomes:getting the ability to design an electronic networked system and to understand operation of the serial busses for local communication.
