Analysis of selected phenomena in contemporary art
world art and its reception in Polish artistic life. Problems of representation, conventions of depiction, the role of the object in the artistic process. Relationship between art and mass culture. Polish artists abroad after 1945 and their influence on the development of art. Art and fashion. Globalisation, issues of cultural identity. Artistic photography - genesis and development of the genre in the 2nd p. 19th century. Poster and graphic design. Contemporary art in public space. Museums, collections and collectors of contemporary art in the world and in Poland.

Learning outcomes
Students will define new art forms and identify a variety of media and modes of artistic activity (A2_W04).
Student has knowledge of contemporary art collections and museums in the world (A2_W06).
Student will define issues in aesthetics and philosophy in relation to contemporary art phenomena (A2_W07).
Student has the ability to critically reflect on and evaluate current artistic events independently (A2_K04).
Assessment criteria
Conventional and problem-based lecture.
