Interior Design 2 AWII2006
Course content:
Design project of a public space/building e.g. a bank, a post office, a financial institution, NSH with emphasis on the design of customer service areas. The design focus is on creative aesthetic design solutions that merge appropriate visual and functional solutions, as well as on the ergonomics of spaces. The emphasis is also placed upon the client service/interaction areas and spatial awareness. Students are to develop various design skills researching and proposing unique colour, lighting and material/specification solutions.
Learning outcomes:
The students will acquire skills in:
- developing functional soultions in accordance with existing Building Rules and Regulations;
- proposing ergonomic solutions for work environments, customer service areas as well as hospitality areas;
- specifying materials and finishes based on functional and easthetic approaches;
- creating a series of various spaces which can functionally work as uniform scenario

Learning outcomes
Having successfully proggressed, students will be able to:
- Plan functional spaces and spatial scenarios
- suggest feasible and optimal design solutions megring the ideas/concepts, design and practical real scenarios
- develop projects in accordance with existing design precedents, resources and theories, providing appropriate source quotes
- show design initiative and creative thinking
- present own design proposals in professional manner in carefully designed presentations.
Assessment criteria
The final subject project grade will comprise of the grades achieved throughout the term.
The final submission has to be comprehensive and comply with all the requirements. The project presentation needs to be clear as it is likely to be assessed without the presence of the student/author.
All the suggested design solutions need to comply with architectural and ergonomic rules and regulations. Projects with grades above 4.0 need to demonstrate certain levels of innovative creativity, artistic approach and a high standard of professional presentation.
