Foundations of dynamic, nonlinear simulation of planar framed structures. Mechanisms, isostatic and hyperstatic frames. Static and dynamic loadings. Structural stability. Construction of isotropic and orthotropic materials. Gauid's method of cable/arch form-finding. Parabolic cables/arches. Strength and stability of parabolic arches. Optimal design of trussed beams. Tall buildings. Bridges and long-span roofs. Shells of revolution.
