Soil Science AK2015
Course content:
Soil genesis, physical and chemical weathering. Soil-forming factors and processes. Morfology of soils. Description of parent materials. The role of clay minerals. Physical and chemical properties of soil. Soil organic matter. Soil microorganisms and their role in functioning of soil. Macroelements and microelements.
Basic methods of determination of physical and chemical properties of soil. Fertility and abundance of soil. Agricultural usefulness complexes. Systematic of the Polish soils. Cartography of soils.
Learning outcomes:
Understanding of essence of soil processes. Skill of description and classification of soils with the use of soil profiles. Knowledge of properties of soils formed from different soil deposits. Skill of determination and interpretation of the basic physical and chemical properties of soil. Understanding of ecological function of soil. Skill of using of soil maps.
