Course content:
Introduction to photonics. Basics of optical phenomena in semiconductors. Low-dimensional structures - rule of the use of quantum wells in semiconductor radiation emitters. Forbidden gap engineering - super networks. Quantum structures - applications light emitters and generators in semiconductors. Interface in photonic structures. VCELS laser systems - basics of construction and selected construction solutions. Construction and selected applications of matrix sources and detectors based on low-dimensional structures. Periodic optical structures – construction of selected elements, methods of analysis and perspectives of development. Optical logic elements. Displays. Optical memory elements.
