Course content:
General information about systems used for management of computer and telecommunication networks. Models, standards and protocols related to management of information technology systems. SNMP protocol and MIB databases. Basic information about monitoring of network systems. Remote network MONitoring standard (RMON) and its objects in MIB database. Integrated platforms for managing network systems. Management of telecommunication traffic and quality of network services. Fundamentals of Quality of Service (QoS) standards. Selected algorithms for network traffic queuing. Basic architectures of QoS: Integrated Services (IntServ) and Differentiated Services (DiffServ). QoS in selected operating systems (e.g. Windows, Linux) and in selected network devices (e.g. routers, switches). Management of network addresses and names.
Learning outcomes:
Obtaining knowledge of methods and technologies used to technical management of information technology systems.
