Course content:Compositions of atmosphere and it’s part in Earth’s heat balance.Reactions taking place in atmosphere, main elements cycle, acid rain, substances destroying atmospheric ozone.General water properties and its role in nature.Characteristic of organic and inorganic components and pollutions of water and wastewater.Physico-chemical and biochemical transformations taking place in water and wastewater. Influence of those elements on the environment.Predicting results of presence of harmful and toxic substances in environment.Rules of taking samples and sample stabilization for analysis.Preparing chemical reagents necessary in full and shorten analysis of water and sewage.Physico-chemical analysis of natural components and water pollutions.
Learning outcomes:Extending knowledge about natural components and pollution in environment, migration of chemical elements and compounds. Predicting results of presence of harmful and toxic substances in environment.

Laboratory exercises completion:
For a mark 3 (dost) student:
1 knows the rules of taking, stabilization and preparation of samples to carry out an chemical analysis
2 is able to match proper research (tasting) method to determine water and wastewater quality
3 can calculate and provide analysis results
4 is able to define chemical courses of processes in environment
For a mark 4 (db) student:
5 fulfills requirements mentioned in points 1-4
6 is able to prepare correctly chemical reagents and carry out laboratory analyses,
7 is able to analyze and eliminate risk of influence on course of research preventing,
8 can prepare and calculate ionic balance
9 mentions and describes potential water pollution sources, knows conditions of their migrations and how to improve conditions,
10 is able to evaluate quality of water and wastewater and knows selected Quality Standards on Water and Wastewater, Quality Standards for Drinking Water
For a mark 5 (bdb) student:
11 fulfills requirements mentioned in points 1-10
12 has practice in choosing and applying few methods of research
13 defines and explains environmental chemical processes with treats caused by human activity
14 is able to critically assess sources of data and information, use them and interpret
15 can use known theoretical issues in practical situation
All students should prepare reports of all exercises.
Knowledge meeting criteria for marks 3,5 and 4,5 has to be more developed and further-reaching than knowledge meeting criteria for marks 3 and 4.
Lecture completion:
Test includes two component parts. First part takes place at the beginning of semester, second part at the end of semester. Each test contains 15 questions, which have to be answered in writing. There are three groups of questions, five for each group, verifying three education effects: EK1, EK2, EK3.It is necessary to obtain minimally mark 3 (dost) from each test.

(50-60%) – 3,0
(60-70%) – 3,5
(70-80%) – 4,0
(80-90%) – 4,5
(90-100%) – 5,0
Completing lectures cannot be supported by student’s notes and any further materials or help for other students.
