Course content:
1. Introductory classes. The most recent political history as a science.
2. Colonial expansion and competition between
superpowers at the turn of XIXth and XXth centuries.
3. I World War.
4. Civil war in Spain.
5. Totalitarian systems in XXth century.
6. II World War. Main events and political effects.
7. Communist system in the Eastern Europe after the II World War.
8. Colonialism and decolonization in the policies of XX century countries.
9. Military Blocks after II World War.
10. Tensions and conflicts in the Soviet Bloc.
11. Arab-Jewish Conflict at the Middle East.
12. Civil war in Yugoslavia.
13. China after II World war.
14. Dissolution of the Soviet Empire in the internal and external dimension.
15. Political image of the world at the turn of XX and XXI centuries.
Learning outcomes: student should have the ability to critical thinking and the independent hierarchization of the historical facts.
