Course content:
1. Elementary principles of technical thermodynamics
2. First law of thermodynamics for closed and open systems
3. Perfect gases and real gases and their thermodynamic properties.
4. Thermodynamic processes along with exemplary applications in thermal engineering
5.Gas cycles of thermal engines and refrigerators
6.Second Law of Thermodynamics.
7. Carnot cycle of power systems and refrigeration systems and heat pumps.
8. Exergy and exergy efficiency.
9. Analysis of energy conversion effectiveness for exemplary applications.
10. Problems of environmental efficiency of energy conversion
Learning outcomes:knowledge of elementary thermodynamicsand thermal engineering problems as well as thermal and flow processes in thermal engineering along with energy conversion efficiency assessment.
