Course content:
Physical quantities and units. Elements of mathematical analysis and calculus of vectors.
Kinematics of a mass point. Newton's laws of motion. Work, power, energy. The conservation of momentum, angular momentum and energy.
Harmonic, damped and driven oscillator. Wave motion. Acoustics. Doppler effect.
Relativistic mechanics.
Elements of quantum mechanics and structure of matter. Photoelectric effect. Compton's effect. Wave properties of particles. The Rutherford–Bohr model of hydrogen atom. Quantum numbers.
Nuclear physics. Natural and artificial radioactivity.
Learning outcomes:
A student knows and can interprete the principle laws of physics.
