Contents: Classification and general characteristics of engineering materials. Achievements in modern materials science: composites, biomimetic materials, intelligent materials, nanomaterials, biomaterials, materials with special properties. Prcesses of materials destruction. Strategy for the selection of the material. Computer-aided materials design and the choice of materials (computer aided materials selection). Trends in the development of materials science.

A student: classifies and characterizes modern materials engineering,
knows and understands the processes of destruction of materials,
knows the principles of strategy of materials selection,
is able to select materials using computer-aided materials selection,
describes trends in the development of engineering materials,
is able to work in a team.

Lectures - exam,
The project - elaboration of the project, an observation of work in the classroom.
