Sensor technology and measuring non-electrical values MIBS06049
Course content:Sensors-basic information. Biological sensors. Structure, operation and characteristics of selected biosensors. Immunological biodetectors. Miniature systems for whole chemical analysis. Bioreactors. Dry tests for quick medical diagnostics. Gas biodetectors. Biopotentials and their classification. Electrodes and microelectrodes. Electrical phenomenon at electrode-tissue contact. Measurements using electrochemical biosensors.
Electrochemical immunosensors. Non-electrical quantity measurements. Methods and equipment for chemical composition measurements. Absorption spectrofotometry and mass spectrometry. Voltamperometry, polarography, ion-selective methods. Surface absorption. Gas and liquid chromatography. Measurements of physical properties: density, viscosity, pH, humidity.
Learning outcomes:using and exploitation of sensors; the ability of perform of non-electrical quantity measurements in biomedical engineering.
