Prosthetics and orthotics I MIBN15002
Course content:
Prosthetics and orthotics in clinical practice. Prosthetic treatment in common therapy of an invalid qualified for amputation. Causes and levels of amputation. Types of stumps of lower and upper limb. Basic types of lower and upper limb prostheses and their classification. The basics of selection, design, manufacturing, adjusting and applying of lower and upper limb prostheses. New trends in development of lower and upper limb prostheses. A role and assignment of orthotics in treatment of diseases of locomotor system. Anatomical classification of orthoses. The basics of selection, design, manufacturing, adjusting and applying of lower and upper limb orthoses, orthopedic shoes, and spine orthoses.
Learning outcomes: A student knows the practical methods of selection, design and manufacturing of basic types of prostheses and orthoses.
