Robotics and Mechatronics METS05041A
Course content:
Robotics - basic definitions, fundamental components and points; classification. Problems from the kinematics and the dynamics. Introduction to the designing of mechanisms of the manipulator; selection of grippers, drives and sensors applied in robots. Introduction to the steering and the programming.
Mechatronics – definitions, the history, circumstances of the development. The schema of the mechatronics device basic functions. Conception of the sensor and actor, their classification and function in mechatronics. The review of a new type actors. Characteristic guilds and problems of the mechatronics design.

Learning outcomes
Student should feel comfortable when he meet any kind of robot or maechatronics device after he pass the exam. He should know the basic information about them.

laboratory where students programme simple robotics and mechatronics systems
Assessment:
lecture - two written exams (in the middle and at the end of the semester)
laboratory - tasks realisation, preparing reports
