Environment Protection with the Elements of Toxicology LN3025A

Course content:
Historical Overview of environmental problems and the basis of toxicology. Classification of polluting compounds. Factors affecting the toxicity of compounds. Environmental factors. Mechanisms of biodegradation of toxic compounds: absorption, movement. accumulation and excretion. Toxicants environmental action. Heavy metals and their problems biodegradable. Bioaccumulation and biomagnification in the trophic chain. Radioactive compounds and the problems of their neutralization. Pollution of surface and groundwater. Methods of water conservation. Air pollution as a factor in environmental degradation. Problem waste. Noise and acoustic maps. Soil degradation - the impact of fertilizers and pesticides. Threats to forest ecosystems. Environmental Protection in Poland, the EU and the world.
