Disturbances in Electric Power Systems EZ2B100003
Course content:Sources of electromagnetic disturbances, influence of disturbances on electronic and electric systems, electromagnetic couplings between wires, measurements of disturbances and study of the influence of disturbances on systems (travelling wave phenomena in electrically long wires, electrostatic discharge, fluctuations of power mains voltage, surge generators, effects of electromagnetic field), protective features of surge protective elements and devices, filtering, shielding (measurement of screening effectiveness), equipotential bonding, grounding, protection against electrostatic discharge, complex protection of structures against disturbances.
Learning outcomes:Acquirements of identification of sources of disturbances in electronic and electrical equipment and systems, assessment of various electromagnetic threats to such equipment and systems and selection and application of proper protective methods or measures against disturbances.
