High Voltage Technique EL09045
Course content:
High voltage test technique. Generation and measurement of high alternating and direct voltages. Generation and measurements of impulse voltages and currents. Partial discharge measurements.Electrical breakdown in gases, solid and liquid dielectric. Travelling waves in high voltage lines.Lightning, mechanism and protection of structures. Protection against overvoltages. Insulation coordination.
Laboratory experiments:Measurements of isolators across voltage distribution. Electrical breakdown in air, measurements for AC and DC current. Voltage dividing systems, spark gaps and voltage measurements transformers. Current surge generators. Breakdown under impulse voltages in air. Electrical breakdown in transformer oil, breakdown voltage measurements. .
Learning outcomes:The principal objective of lectures is to cover the fundamentals of high-voltage test technique, generation and measurement, electrical breakdown in gases.
