Learning outcomes
A student who has completed the course:
- known function materials for the structural layers of the road surface
- knows the processes of production of road materials
- knows how to design mineral-asphalt mixes and mineral-cement mixes
- perform basic laboratory tests for mineral-asphalt mixes and mineral-cement mixes
Assessment criteria
Lecture
The written examination consists of 4 questions. Questions are assessed by the teacher on a scale 2,0-3,0-3,5-4,0-4,5-5,0. The necessary condition to obtain a minimum credit assessment of 3.0 to each question. Final Rating: 3.0 (from 12 to 13 pts.); 3.5 (from 13.5 to 14.5 pts.); 4.0 (from 15 to 16 points); 4.5 (from 16.5 to 18pkt.); 5.0 (from 18.5 to 20 points).
Must pass the exam without the use of materials and assistance and without communication with others. Assessment takes approx. 60 minutes.
Laboratory:
The assessment of sufficient (3.0), the student:
1 Can perform basic tests of road materials: binders, aggregates, aggregates mixes.
2. Can design the cement stabilized aggregate mixtures.
3 Place to properly design a series of test samples to assess the technical characteristics of road materials and to optimize the amount of cement stabilized with cement mixtures.
The assessment of a good (4.0), the student:
4 Meets the requirements of paragraphs 1-3.
5 Can the reasons designed to provide optimal composition stabilized with cement mixtures.
6 Able to carry out additional tests of road materials such as binders strain energy, of resistance to fragmentation and polishing resistance of aggregates. Able to carry out studies of the compressive strength of mixtures stabilized with cement.
For a very good student (5.0):
Meets 7 points 1-6.
8 Can the reasons qualify suitability for construction of pavement design road test materials depending on the category of traffic.
9 Place correctly interpret the results of tests carried out for mixtures stabilized with cement and knows the incorporation of technology in the construction of the road surface. Assess which parameters should correspond to road materials embedded in the pavement structure with respect to the results of laboratory tests.
Ratings of 3.5 and 4.5 will receive students who meet the appropriate requirements of points 1-3 and 4-6 in a very good partial or additionally meet the requirements of a higher level.
