Course content:
Lectures:
1. Systematics of the woody plants. Trees in the evolution and the phylogeny of the plant kingdom
2. Morphology, anatomy and physiology of trees and shrubs.
3. Systematical review. The diversity, diagnostic and ecological features, habitat preferences, ornamental characteristics, the propagation and the culture.
4. Limiting and facilitating factors of the use of landscape woody plants
5. Practical rules of the selection and the use of woody plants for the different types of the green areas
Workshops:
1-2. Practical identification of woody species of different systematical groups - room and field classes
3. Practical rules of use of woody plants for the different types of the green areas
Learning outcomes: practical skills of the identification of trees and shrubs and using them in the green areas depending on conditions, requirements and expecting effects
