Theory of Rural Planning AUN5015
Course content:
1.Rural environment – theory of the rural settlement planning.
2.Village as a settlement: genesis structures and contemporary elements of organization. District social service center. Adaptation of the historical plan and architecture structures to the modern circumstances.
3.Cultural heritage of the Podlasie region. Plan transformation of the settlements. Classicism trends in plans of the Grodno royal manufactures at the end of XVIII c. Baroque classicism and strong classicism features in architecture of the XVIII c. East and west influences in architecture. Estates’ planning. Traditions and modernity in sacral architecture. West European impacts in architecture of the GDL.
4.Dwelling house in the village: historical development. Constructions and architectural elements of the houses with the focus on regional peculiarities. Modern dwelling in the village.
Learning outcomes:The ability to understand the problems of rural planning.
