Building Structures 3 - Metal Structures AU6017
Course content:
Metals as construction materials. Design principles of modern metal structures. Shaping and optimization of cross-sections of bars and plates in tension, compression, bending, torsion and in complex states of stress. Shaping and optimization of skeletal, arched, cable and hybrid structures. Constructions in different scales and functions – utility items, furniture, street furniture, buildings.

Understanding the structural properties of metals. Acquiring skills in shaping and optimizing various
metal elements and structures in different states of stress. Gaining skills and competence in development of architectural design with the use of metal structural elements.
