Course content:Type and characteristic of wastewater. Receiving water.Principles in assessment of pollutant discharge conditons; general charcteristic of methods for wastewater treatment. Municipal wastewater. Mechanical treatment.Aerobic and anaerobic biodegradation. Natural and hydrobiological methods. Aerobic wastewater methods: ditches, sludge activated system, biological filters, rotary biological contactors. Flow and S.B.R. reactors. Biological and chemical nutrients removal. Intensive removing of C,N,P during biological and chemical treatment. Anaerobic methods: digestion. Sewage sludge management: thickening, dewatering, drying. Industrial wastewater. Physico-chemical methods.

Learning outcomes:Get acquainted with wastewater treatment technology. Understanding of processes during municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. Skill in designing of technology and facilities in wastewater treatment plant.
